4 of my recent graduates - Fen, Shan, Ling, Ling, visited me in my office today. It was really a touching gesture on their part. They even brought along a mooncake and biscuits for each lecturer they visited. We ended up chatting for an hour till 1 p.m. when it was time for my lecture.
They unanimously agreed that NUS life is a struggle everyday - "can really cry". It certainly is different from SP. Finally they have to admit that they led too pampered a life in SP. In NUS, they don't have nice complete notes similar to those in SP. In NUS, they don't have kind and approachable lecturers like those in SP (don't laugh) to guide them. In SP, lecturers give tips for difficult papers, deadlines can be extended (highly elastic) etc. Guess studying in a university is an eye opener for them.
I hereby wish them all the best.
Looking forward to the next meeting with them.
